BAB 2010 / Opening, October 1

We invite you at the official opening of the Bucharest Architecture Biennale, on Friday, 1st October, at 6 pm, ¾ Gallery, 3rd Floor, The National Theatre of Bucharest, MNAC space, 2 Nicolae Balcescu Blvd.

The Romanian architecture exhibition – a selection of the most valuable Romanian projects completed in the last two years in architecture, urban planning, restoration and publications – will be open to the public between 1st to 26th October. The Biennale promotes the responsibility, the talent and the good ideas.

The exhibition can be visited between 1st  – 26 October, from Wednesday to Sunday, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, at ¾ Gallery – The National Theatre of Bucharest, free entrance.

We invite you at the opening of the ” Rien ne va Plus / Faites vos Jeux” exhibition, on Thursday, 16th of September, at  7pm, at Pavilion UNICREDIT, 1 Nicolae  Titulescu street, Bucharest (Piata Victoriei).
Produced in Holland, the exhibition has an international theme and focuses on the combined impact of economic crisis, environmental crisis and the crisis between the generations on architecture and on ways to understand the complexity of the current crisis.
The exhibition, opened between 16 of September to 21 of November, is organized by the Union of Romanian Architects , Zeppelin Association and the Architecture magazine in cooperation with Pavilion Unicredit as an event for Bucharest Architecture Biennial in 2010 and is supported by the Netherlands Embassy.

The final results of the preselection

In 2010 edition of Bucharest Architecture Biennale a record number of 215 projects have been registered proving the interest for this field. Following the jury preselection, finalized on the 26th of August, 176 works have been accepted for the exhibition and competition of Romanian projects, and 171 will be exhibited as following:

Section 1 – architecture below 1000 sqm: 47 projects of the total of 63 registered;
Section 2 – architecture above 1000 sqm: 48 projects of the total of 62 registered;
Section 3 – urbanism and public spaces: 9 projects of the total of 13 registered;
Section 4 – interior design and object design: 38 projects of the total of 41 registered;
Section 5 – restoration of monuments, rehabilitation of buildings: 16 projects of the total of 23 registered and
Section 6 – architecture publications: 13 projects of the total of 13 registered.

The panels corresponding to the projects qualified for the second phase will be submitted at Arhitectura magazine headquarters (Bucharest, 9 Zece Mese Street) until 14th September 2010, 6 pm.  The second phase rules detailing the conditions of presentation for the finalists will be communicated until Monday, the 30th of August.

The Romanian architecture exhibition will be open to the public starting with the 1st of October, while the jury final selection will take place between 7 and 11 October.
